Suana 2019
«Quod illi liceat imperatores deponere.».
(Gregorius VII - Dictatus Papae)
The Suana, produced with Cabernet and Merlot grapes, owes its name to the ancient name of the village of Sovana, a flourishing Etruscan center founded in the 7th century BC. Sovana is historically known for being the birthplace of Pope Gregory VII, also known as Ildebrando, famous for the "Dictatus Papae," wherein he asserted, during a century marked by struggles between the State and the Church, the superiority of the Papacy even over the Emperors.
